An obligation or right...
A silent and quick thought: is it an obligation, OR right either, to have children? I spoke about this with a person standing close to me. It was he who said it. And I think what he said is worth considering.
What about the child's rights?
Addition March 13: in the morning sofa in TV they spoke about a proposal from the Christ Democrats in Sweden about rewarding women with 10,000 Swedish Crowns if they have children.
A leader writer from the right press thought this only would contribute to "even more exclusive baby- carriages on Östermalm (a part of Stockholm where the society lives)." Another right politician also thought it was a bad idea. Getting tax deductions for services in the household would be better he thought, so both women and men could have careers. A third woman thought all those ideas were bad. Seeing children as the future labour. Parents ought to have more time with their children, i.e. a shorter work day instead for instance.
I was taken aback: why have children if you leave them with nursemaids, paid with tax deduction money on top??? And who can afford being with their children too?
And see what Miller has written... That every child that is born shall be wanted and welcome and respected. No, it's no right to have children!
